In the business world there is a saying, “Sales cures all!”
Simply meaning, if we just had more sales (more money coming in) then all the other problems we are having would just go away.
And in most cases that is true for our personal financial lives as well.
If we had more money coming in, then most of our issues would be solved right?
Well, honestly, yes that is true. You were probably expecting me to go a more “spiritual route” and talk about the root causes of stress and anxiety, but here’s the deal:
If your household had more cash flow coming in then it would be easier to pay your bills, you wouldn’t worry at night, you could enjoy your day more, you wouldn’t have as many fights with your spouse, you could put your kids in the better school, you could give more generously to those in need, and your church…you get my point.
More money is available to you. It’s out there, and I’m going to help you get it.
As you’ve heard me say over and over, we are Christians, we are God’s children, we have THE advantage when it comes to money, so let’s get off our butts and do something about it!
You with me?
I’ve made a quick checklist of some things you need to implement into your life.
Do these things, and soon, your bank account will begin to grow:
1. Put money towards your brain.
Become an investor in knowledge. Proverbs 8:17-18 says, “I (Wisdom) love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
Most people I know will “invest” money towards a $120 pair of shoes, or 20k on a new car, but hesitate to invest $100 on a course or a book that will give them the knowledge they need to make more money!
Riches, honor, enduring wealth and prosperity are available to those who seek wisdom. Investing in this book truly changed my business and financial life.
2. Change the way you look at your job.
Stop whining and begging for a job. When I meet someone who currently is unemployed I ask them, “Where would you like to work?” – They almost always reply with, “Oh man, I’ll take anything right now.” And they do. They take the first thing that comes their way, no matter what. Even if it has bad pay, horrible hours, and sometimes even if it means they have to move to another city!
That’s why there are SO many Christians stuck in jobs they hate. Sure, you’re grateful for the first month or so, but then it starts to wear on you. It feels like a piece of your soul dies each day as you drag yourself to work…You know exactly what I’m talking about.
Stop it. Here’s what you do now: First, ask the Lord to show you where He wants you to be working. Then ask Him what VALUE you can bring to this company. What skill set, what expertise, what attitude, do you need to insert into this workplace that it currently doesn’t have?
How can you help your boss make more money? Bring him ideas, bring him strategies, show him that your goal is to add value to this company and I guarantee your efforts will not go unnoticed.
Proverbs 22:29 MSG “Observe people who are good at their work, skilled workers are always in demand and admired; they don’t take a backseat to anyone.” Learn how I got a $200 raise in one afternoon.
3. Change the way you look at your money.
Up until this point you’ve seen your paycheck as simply the way you pay your monthly debt payments. If you get real with yourself, you know that’s true.
That was never the point or the purpose of money, but without the right money mindset, that’s what your paycheck has become, simply a means to pay towards your debts. Doesn’t that make you want to barf? It should!
From now on, see your money, see your paycheck as seed.
If it’s possible, do this exercise one time and it will help your mindset: Go and cash out your paycheck and lay out the cash on the table.
First, make your stack of 10% of your gross paycheck for the tithe, that way the windows of heaven are open and your setup to be blessed.
Second, ask God, “Lord, what do you want me to do with the rest of this seed? Where do you need me to sow it?” Then listen, and do what He says!
In 2 Corinthians 9 Paul is talking to the church about giving a money offering, and he reminds them of this spiritual law: [Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings.
4. Put something in your storehouse.
Deuteronomy 28:8 promises us, “The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouse and in all that you undertake…”
What’s a storehouse? Today that is our savings account. It’s where we store something up for later use.
But wait, what’s that you say? You don’t have a savings account? Well then how can God COMMAND a blessing on something you don’t have?
Go get one TODAY and put $25 bucks in it. You need to give God something to bless.
A lot of people say they don’t have one because they can’t afford to put anything in it. That’s a lie from the devil because he knows that as soon as you open a “storehouse” God is going to command His blessing on it!
Satan needs you to believe this lie because he wants you poor. A wealthy Christian is a POWERFUL force.
Go punch satan in the face by starting a savings account today. Then put something into it each paycheck. Even if it’s $5 dollars. Give God something to bless! Here’s a tip on the ONLY real way to grow your savings account.
5. Be a consistent giver.
Give to those in the household of faith and give to the poor. This is a big one. You need to become generous.
Proverbs 28:27 promises us, “Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed” Notice that those who give, are the ones who lack nothing.
Proverbs 11:24-25: “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper;those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
Who lacks nothing? Who becomes more wealthy? Who prospers? Those who give and are generous.
Stop telling yourself you’ll give more when you’re wealthy, that type of thinking will keep you poor!
You need to be a tither, a giver, a sower, a generous person NOW. Make this new mindset your new way of living. This is what pulls you up out of poverty and living paycheck to paycheck.
You ARE generous. Period.
Even if you have $30 bucks in your bank account, you ARE generous, you become more wealthy, you are prosperous, you are a giver and you lack nothing.
Tithe to your local church and above that, find a good work that helps the poor and start sowing seed there consistently. Ask for God’s guidance on where to sow and give. Here’s more on How to Activate God’s Promise for Increase
If you take these elements seriously and begin to make these adjustments your financial life WILL turn around. Your bank account will rise. How do I know? Because everything I told you is backed up by spiritual law.
Spiritual law is even more real than natural laws. Just as natural laws like gravity are in effect, so are the spiritual laws I gave you up there.
Stop making excuses, and go implement these 5 steps. Be an action taker. Remember in Deuteronomy 28:8 “The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouse and in all that you undertake…” What are you undertaking? Are you putting your hand to something? Or are you just wishing, hoping and dreaming?
